"Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done." (Philippians 4:6 NLT)
"Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition, definite requests, with thanksgiving ... make your wants known to God." (Philippians 4:6 Amplified).
I am what the Bible, the Word of God says I am!
I can do what the Bible, the Word of God says I can do!
Looking again at Leo C Harris' article, "How to Kick the Worry Habit" he writes - 'There are just two things to do about the past. Firstly, commit it to God. Secondly, if forgiveness is necessary, claim forgiveness.
Now draw lessons from the past .. constructive, helpful lessons.'
And then there are future worries. The future is overwhelming to many people. They feel they cannot cope.
Supposing that on the way to your wedding you began to think about all the dishes that would have to be washed, dried and put away. What if your imagination had painted a picture of those dishes piled high in every room of the house and overflowing into the backyard!
There may have been a disappointed bridegroom waiting at the altar!
Some of you who have been married 10, 20 or 30 years have washed piles of dishes beyond all human comprehension. BUT - you washed them one day at a time, one meal at a time and one dish at a time!
And that is the only way to take care of the future. One day at a time! One event at a time! Even one hour at a time in some seasons.
Jesus said, "So do not worry or be anxious about tomorrow for tomorrow will have worries and anxieties of its own. Sufficient for each day is its own trouble" (Matthew 6:34 Amplified).
People worry about how they should handle present problems. They lie awake at night and then find their problems still unsolved in the morning.
Here are four steps to be taken in handling current problem situations.
1 Get all the facts. You will never solve your problem until you have all the relevant facts. Write them down. Then list all the possible ways of handling the situation.
2 Get qualified counsel. The Bible says that there is safety in the multitude of counsellors. Talk to people who are mature, and who have had experience, and who know what the Bible says about the issue at hand.
3 Ask God for his wisdom. "If you want to know what God wants you to do, ask him and he will gladly tell you, for he is always ready to give a bountiful supply of wisdom to all who ask him: he will not resent it" (James 1:5 Living Bible). Numerous are the people who, having conquered worry, or having had the cause of worry removed, have experienced miraculous recoveries from physical and mental illness.
4 By a deliberate act of faith - "Cast all your anxieties on him, for he cares about you" (1Peter 5:7 Amplified).
You know what they say about worry? It is like sitting in a rocking chair, you are moving but going no-where! Kick the Worry Habit!
